How Byteboard is Improving Lyft's Interview Experience

Lyft partnered with Byteboard, a skills-based technical interview platform, to improve its candidate assessment process for engineering hiring. Lyft’s University Programs team wanted to increase representation and maintain a strong candidate experience, but the team was challenged by inefficient assessment tools, limited visibility into candidates’ technical skills, and heavy engineering interviewer demand.

By implementing Byteboard as its primary pre-onsite technical interview solution, Lyft was able to assess candidates earlier with practical, real-world software engineering problems. The results were significant: Lyft increased top-of-funnel volume by 5x, interviewed five times more intern candidates, shortened interview timelines by half, and filled 78% of roles in less than two months compared with 50% previously, while also expanding hiring across university, frontend, mobile, and apprenticeship programs.
