The Bridge User Experience Helped Hutchinson Community College Revitalize Students' Pursuit of Knowledge

Hutchinson Community College, a 90+-year institution in Hutchinson, KS, faced a persistent gap in employee and student development caused by misaligned strategy, outdated systems and a skeptical culture. Leaders formed a cross-functional PD6 team to rethink professional development and set technical and UX requirements — including SSO, accessibility, responsive design and just-in-time microlearning — to support a culture shift toward continuous learning.

They implemented Bridge (Instructure) with Arc Video and integrated it into Canvas, enabling easy authoring, automated notifications, real-time reporting and accessible video captions. The result: increased collaboration and self-directed training (HR now deploys programs with minimal support), 3,000 students self-provisioned accounts, record-high supervisor training completion and a 74% overall training completion rate, with plans to scale supplemental student modules and community offerings.
