Making the Best Investments in Dispersed-Workforce Training

William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty is a longtime upscale real estate firm serving Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York with 28 brokerages and more than 1,000 sales associates. When Lance Pendleton became director of education in 2015, fewer than 15% of agents participated in training—the result of a dispersed workforce, one trainer trying to reach 1,200 people across three states, and many agents working as independent contractors who couldn’t be mandated to take courses. The company needed a simple, mobile LMS that could be tracked at the individual level.

Pendleton implemented Bridge to build onboarding and a new agent learning path that administrators can use to standardize knowledge transfer and free up in‑person training time. The platform’s ease of use and mobile access enabled blended learning and individualized course tracking; Pendleton estimates the program saves 40–60 hours of annual training time per agent and aims to raise adoption to 30% by the end of 2016.
