Empowering a Culture Shift Through Innovative Learning and Development

RetireAustralia is a Queensland-based owner and operator of retirement villages (est. 2006) with 27 villages across three states, more than 5,000 residents and ~450 team members. Learning & Development Specialist Murray Humphrey was tasked with shifting the organization from a property-focused model to a resident-centric, learner-led culture — a large-scale change that required scalable, measurable learning and assessment to build individual and collective competence.

Humphrey implemented a 70-20-10 approach using Bridge to create blended learning pathways, monitor participation, and document competency, including drip‑fed, bite-sized village manager development. Early results include strong social engagement (about 70% interaction in Smart Groups), clear completion targets for new hires (first five modules within seven days), and very high learner satisfaction (historically 100% would recommend), driving the people-centric transformation.
