Closing Skill Gaps for the World's Underserved Youth

Generation is a global nonprofit that prepares underserved 16–24-year-olds for work, tackling a large youth unemployment problem that can sharply reduce lifetime earnings. To close this skills gap, Generation set out to scale role-based, practice-focused training—piloting a Retail Career Advancement (RCA) program—to give learners the contextual, on-the-job skills employers seek and to capture measurable outcomes like promotions, higher-paying placements, and retention.

Using Bridge Practice, Generation ran accelerated 2–6 week cohorts with video-based role plays, peer and instructor feedback, self-review, and mobile access so learners could practice anytime. The pilot proved scalable and effective: across 150+ graduates in Jacksonville and Dallas, 48% earned promotions or higher-paying jobs within 30 days and 78% showed 90-day retention; across Generation’s programs, graduates have seen 2–6x income increases and strong employer performance.
