How Wallapop Used Cross-Channel Messaging to Increase User Engagement

Wallapop, the Barcelona-based online secondhand marketplace, faced declining app activity as COVID-19 limited in-person exchanges and disrupted shipping. To bolster usage, Wallapop partnered with Braze and used Braze Canvas to design and deliver a gamified WallaChallenge and targeted cross-channel messaging (push and in-app) to educate and re-engage users.

Using Braze Canvas to build, test, and optimize the five-week campaign, Wallapop drove more than 150,000 participants and achieved a 31% increase in active users (March–June). Braze-powered recipients produced 227% more listings and 235% more chats than the control group, with the campaign influencing 11% of listings and 15% of chat messages—rapidly re-engaging buyers and sellers during the pandemic.
