Quizlet, the online study platform for students, needed to drive users to try a broader range of study modes but couldn’t efficiently capture nuanced mode-usage data without collecting unnecessary information. They worked with Braze, leveraging Braze’s Data & Analytics capabilities to identify a more targeted data-collection approach.
Using Braze, Quizlet implemented event-triggered webhooks via an Action-Based Campaign to record only the first occurrence of each of seven study modes per user (disallowing re-eligibility), keeping each profile to up to seven data points. The webhook solution reduced data-collection-related network requests from an estimated 1.5 billion to about 354 million per year — a 76.4% decrease — preserving data hygiene and enabling more personalized mode-suggestion campaigns.
