How busuu Used Connected Content to Become a Supportive and Friendly Coach for Foreign Language Learners

Busuu, the language-learning app, needed to keep users motivated to follow personalized Study Plans and re-engage those who fell out of routine. To deliver timely, empathetic reminders and real-time progress updates across channels, Busuu partnered with Braze and used the Braze platform—including its Connected Content dynamic content tool.

Braze enabled Busuu to send personalized push notifications at each user’s preferred study time (with exception events to suppress sends if a session is already completed), deliver weekly progress emails populated via Connected Content, and segment messages to provide encouraging copy for inactive users. The program drove strong results: a 70% increase in direct opens for these push messages, a 93% lift in open rates for weekly progress emails, and re-engagement emails saw a 19% higher open rate and a 126% increase in click-throughs; Busuu is now expanding to Web Push and applying Connected Content to more campaigns.
