Bradford Network’s Network Sentry Helps University of Kent Control and Manage Its Student Residence Network

The University of Kent, serving over 16,000 students across a 300-acre campus, needed a better way to manage nearly 4,000 wired student connections in its Study Bedroom Service. Its legacy, manual NAC system required MAC and user data entry, causing multi-day delays for new students and high IT workload from virus and spyware issues, so the university sought an automated, online solution that would let students self-register, remediate problems, and avoid help-desk intervention.

The university deployed Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry, which automatically profiles devices, scans for vulnerabilities, enforces security and acceptable-use policies, and guides students through remediation. As a result students are typically online in minutes, help-desk calls and support costs have fallen, administrative intervention has been largely eliminated, campus risk is reduced, and the IT team now has actionable device and usage data for troubleshooting and planning—improving satisfaction and operational efficiency.
