Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry Enables Columbia University Medical Center to Balance Security and Accessibility

Columbia University Medical Center faced recurring spikes in malware and a heavy help-desk burden each semester as thousands of students connected new devices. The IT team needed a Network Access Control (NAC) solution that would enforce acceptable-use policies, verify device compliance, automate registration and IP assignment, and allow temporary guest access—requirements that led them to evaluate vendors against 174 criteria and choose Bradford Networks.

CUMC piloted and then deployed Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry, which uses a dissolvable agent to validate endpoints, automatically provision network resources, quarantine noncompliant devices with guided remediation, and provide granular visibility of users and devices. The result: help-desk calls related to registration dropped by more than 60%, virus outbreaks were eliminated, students gained faster access via remote pre-registration, and the implementation delivered a clear ROI that justified wider rollout.
