Case Study: Utah Valley University achieves instant, automated BYOD access and halves Help Desk calls with Bradford Networks' Network Sentry

A Bradford Networks Case Study

Preview of the Utah Valley University Case Study

At Utah Valley University, Network Sentry Makes BYOD Fast, Simple and Reliable

Utah Valley University (UVU), a public university with nearly 33,000 students and 5,000 faculty, needed to support a campus-wide BYOD experience as mobile devices became integral to learning. Their legacy Network Access Control system wasn’t built for BYOD, leading to frequent access and security problems and a growing volume of Help Desk calls.

UVU deployed Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry to automate onboarding and self-remediation: a lightweight agent profiles devices, enforces policies, and lets users update noncompliant software themselves. The result was rapid adoption (5,500 users/6,600 devices in 10 days; over 20,000 users and 30,000 devices in two months), near-instant network access, Help Desk calls and walk-ins cut by half, and a better student and classroom experience — with plans to extend automated control to wired infrastructure.
