Abbotsford School District Secures Its Network and Enables BYOD with Bradford Networks

Abbotsford School District in Abbotsford, BC serves about 18,500 students and 2,100 staff across 46 schools with roughly 10,000 district-owned devices plus widespread BYOD. The network was being overwhelmed by student cell phones, compromised SSID passwords and unknown devices, leaving IT with little visibility, frequent password resets and an inability to locate or control devices — putting bandwidth, instruction and security at risk.

X10 Networks deployed Bradford Networks’ Network Sentry NAC integrated with Palo Alto Networks firewalls to automatically identify and profile devices, enforce VLAN-based access and BYOD policies, remediate non-compliant endpoints, and route student traffic appropriately. The deployment discovered and enabled action on over 1,000 rogue devices, eliminated constant SSID password resets, reduced administrative overhead, improved user experience, and gave IT the ability to quickly block and investigate cyber threats.
