Radius Bank, a Boston-based community bank with about $700 million in assets, faced a shifting customer base and wanted to move beyond traditional in-branch service to attract younger, digitally savvy consumers as well as national and global business accounts. To stay ahead, the bank adopted a forward-looking online and mobile strategy to support account opening and banking on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
Partnering with Bottomline Technologies, Radius implemented a responsive online account opening solution that provides a consistent experience across devices, lets applicants upload photos of documents, and supports eSignature or touchscreen signing. The new capability increased customer satisfaction, enabled multi-touchpoint account management (branch, mail, desktop, mobile), and helped 85–90% of new checking customers open accounts online in the past 18 months.
