British Pipeline Agency (BPA), a Hemel Hempstead–based pipeline engineering firm with 143 employees, needed to move away from legacy cheque processing and an ageing server-based Bacs setup that risked hardware failure and no longer met new Bacs security requirements. After years of manual and dial-up processes, the company sought a secure, easier-to-manage payments platform that would maintain compliance and reduce processing overhead.
BPA adopted Bottomline’s PT-X cloud-based Payments and Business Solutions Suite as a managed subscription service, giving secure, anywhere access, automatic compliance updates and no periodic upgrades. The intuitive platform enabled almost all supplier and expense payments to be submitted electronically, cut up to half an hour from each payment run, supported under 500 monthly transactions, and delivered faster, simpler processing with minimal change to internal workflows.
