A Bottomline Case Study
Daikin Applied Americas Inc., a leading commercial HVAC manufacturer with a strong sustainability focus, faced a time-consuming, paper-based accounts payable process—about 50,000 vendor checks annually—and needed a cost-effective way to automate check-to-ACH payments, preserve existing ERP and bank relationships, and capture early-payment discounts. Their Oracle ERP could not natively deliver the detailed electronic remittance information required by many raw-component vendors, so an external solution was needed to scale with rapid business growth.
Daikin implemented Bottomline’s Paymode‑X cloud payment network, which integrated with their Oracle system, required no upfront investment, and allowed payment files to be sent to a secure portal for ACH delivery with electronic remittance. The rollout took weeks with minimal IT effort; within months nearly 15,000 check transactions were automated, generating cash-back and early-pay discounts, reducing paper and AP review time, and positioning Daikin to expand automation to more domestic and international vendors.
