When Dell acquired EMC in 2016, the two companies needed to operate as one immediately, requiring rapid integration of sales, CRM, HR and support systems. The effort was complicated by differing data models (for example, different Salesforce product hierarchies and account vs. site tracking), an expanded workforce of about 140,000, and a demanding three-month timetable.
Dell used the Boomi AtomSphere low-code platform—leveraging ready connectors for Salesforce and Workday, APIs, and flexible cloud/on‑prem deployments—to map, translate and automate data flows and provisioning. The approach compressed months of work into weeks, enabled unified sales and HR operations on Day One, supported consolidated reporting, and accelerated ongoing integrations.
