Cloud Integration Provides Major Returns for Leading for Tax Software Maker

Avalara, a leading SaaS provider of tax automation, faced a costly, high-touch sales and onboarding process that relied on manual provisioning. The company needed an API-driven ecommerce flow to create subscriptions and capture leads across Avalara.com, integrate billing and subscriptions between Zuora and Salesforce, and record transactions in back-office systems — work that was too time-consuming for its in-house full‑stack team to deliver quickly.

Partner Slalom implemented the Dell Boomi integration platform (hosting a Boomi Atom onsite), enabling low-code API management and faster integrations. Avalara moved to Boomi’s enterprise edition with two Atoms and 22 connectors, which streamlined provisioning from Salesforce to Zuora (including metered usage), accelerated time-to-market, supported a “no-touch” sales model, and improved customer satisfaction and business agility.
