TripIt, the world's highest-rated travel-organizing app with 80+ team members across San Francisco, Prague, and Bellevue, had built a strong culture of encouragement and wanted to make everyday recognition easy to sustain and "automagical" across its distributed workforce.
TripIt piloted and then phased in Bonusly—setting a 15-point allowance at launch (May 2014)—to formalize peer-to-peer appreciation. The program drove broad engagement: 3,461 bonuses given, 69% of users giving, 89% receiving, a 2-point average bonus and about four bonuses given per person per month, helping keep recognition simple, flexible, and consistent.
