Case Study: Chobani achieves company-wide employee recognition and engagement with Bonusly

A Bonusly Case Study

Preview of the Chobani Case Study

Chobani replaced a manual nominations program with Bonusly to build an even better place to work

Chobani, the leading Greek-yogurt brand with ~2,000 employees across corporate offices, retail locations and multiple manufacturing plants, needed a more meaningful, timely recognition program after employees requested one in the 2016 Great Place to Work® survey. Prior to Bonusly, HR Manager Andrew Schrader was managing recognition manually via email and gold balloons—an inefficient approach that didn’t reach shift workers or span timezones.

In 2017 Chobani rolled out Bonusly using a custom "cups" currency, mobile app and breakroom kiosks so every employee could give immediate, values-based recognition; team leads also receive extra allowance during big projects. The program drove strong engagement—more than 75% active users, 73% of employees receive at least one bonus monthly, and 63,250 bonuses given in the first year—boosting loyalty, improving recognition scores on the Great Place to Work® survey and making recognition a core part of Chobani’s culture.
