Case Study: SAP achieves near-instant, cloud-based delivery of IT infrastructure with BMC Software

A BMC Software Case Study

Preview of the SAP Case Study

Business software leader SAP powers R&D innovation with near-instant, cloud-based delivery of IT infrastructure

SAP, a global leader in enterprise software with more than 74,000 employees and nearly 19,000 in R&D, needed to accelerate delivery of complex SAP instances to 21 R&D labs across six data centers (40,000+ servers) to support development, testing, and training while meeting strict financial controls. To shift from provisioning individual servers to delivering complete infrastructure services, SAP Global IT created the Corporate Compute Cloud (C3).

Partnering with BMC, SAP implemented Atrium, BladeLogic, and Remedy to provide automation, rules-based workflows, heterogeneous platform management, self-service provisioning, and analytics. The C3 automation cut provisioning time from days to hours, reduced administrative time per deployment to zero, enforced best practices, standardized service delivery, and exposed usage metrics and consumption-based pricing for greater transparency.
