Marks & Spencer Maximizes Agility via Cloud-Based Planning

Marks & Spencer, the London-based retailer with nearly 1,000 stores and more than $13 billion in 2020 revenues, faced extreme demand volatility as online sales surged during 2020. To keep stores replenished and meet rapidly changing customer demand across clothing, home and food categories, M&S needed to migrate its Blue Yonder demand, fulfillment and workforce solutions to the cloud to gain greater speed, agility and responsiveness.

With support from Tata Consultancy Services and Microsoft, M&S moved Blue Yonder’s Luminate Planning to a SaaS model on Microsoft Azure, delivering real-time omni-channel visibility, scalable capacity and prescriptive demand and fulfillment recommendations. The cloud migration was smooth and minimally disruptive, and produced faster supply-chain response, lower total cost of ownership and immediate access to new functionality—improving inventory placement, customer service and overall agility.
