A Blue Yonder Case Study
Lenovo, a global personal-technology company whose revenue rose from US$13 billion in 2006 to US$21 billion in 2011 after acquiring IBM’s PC division, faced a legacy infrastructure with limited e-commerce capabilities and a highly complex configurable-order process. The company needed a scalable, highly available platform to support global expansion across six continents, improve site uptime (about 89% at the time) and handle unpredictable peak traffic.
Lenovo deployed JDA Web Commerce and JDA Enterprise Architecture via JDA Cloud Services, with JDA consulting and support managing hosting and infrastructure. The solution raised uptime to 99.5-plus percent, put the platform in 70 countries (selling via lenovo.com in seven), doubled online business, grew profits by more than 225 percent and revenue by more than 100 percent, improved conversion and CSAT (from the low 60s to the high 70s and 80s in some countries), and reduced infrastructure costs by 40 percent annually.
