University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) faced a major data-quality challenge: the Personal Demographics Service (PDS) did not share updates with hospitals, leaving roughly 50,000 deceased patient records in UHB’s Patient Master Index and causing inappropriate appointment reminders to grieving families. SS&C Blue Prism’s automation eliminated the risk of contacting deceased patients, avoided unnecessary communications, improved patient (and family) experience, and significantly reduced staff time spent on record maintenance.
