The University of Calgary, a leading medical research university serving 36,000 students, needed to do more with less amid government funding pressures and seasonal workflow peaks. To support rising student and research workloads without hiring additional staff, the University of Calgary engaged SS&C Blue Prism and its digital workers to automate time‑consuming finance, HR and IT processes.

SS&C Blue Prism, working with certified partner Deloitte, launched an automation program that identified more than 150 opportunities and focused on quick, high‑value wins. SS&C Blue Prism digital workers automated research project setup and research accounting (including 21,000 annual expense claims), eliminating up to 75% of manual work for claims, returning 38,000 hours in that use case and 125,000 hours university‑wide, improving accuracy and reducing manual effort by 70%.
