Santander Funds Loans for Needy Businesses in Two Minutes with Intelligent Automation

Banco Santander, a leading financial services firm in Argentina serving 3.7 million customers, faced an urgent challenge in 2020 when the government opened COVID‑19 emergency funding with only 48 hours’ notice. Anticipating a flood of applications and later needing to transfer defaulted loans to guarantor Fogar within tight timelines, Banco Santander turned to SS&C Blue Prism’s digital workforce (Blue Prism intelligent automation) to scale quickly.

Using SS&C Blue Prism and Santander’s library of reusable automation objects, the bank deployed a solution in two days, processed 120,000 loan applications in three months, and funded each loan in about two minutes. Digital workers also accelerated debt‑transfer paperwork, enabling Santander to transfer up to 80% of bad debts and become the only Argentinian bank able to respond on time—delivering clear operational and competitive results.
