Mass General Brigham Uses Intelligent Automation to Give 271,000 Hours Back to Staf

Mass General Brigham, the largest healthcare provider in Eastern Massachusetts with over 80,000 employees and 13 hospitals, faced growing staff burnout and lost clinical time due to heavy administrative workloads—issues amplified by COVID-19. To return clinicians to patient care, Mass General Brigham partnered with SS&C Blue Prism to deploy intelligent automation and Blue Prism digital workers across the organization.

SS&C Blue Prism implemented digital workers across ten functional areas and more than 35 processes, freeing roughly 271,000 staff hours, delivering over $10 million in cost savings, and letting employees focus on value‑added clinical work. The SS&C Blue Prism solution scaled quickly with strong cultural adoption, replaced repetitive back‑office tasks (two digital workers now doing the equivalent work of 130 people), and enabled future automation plans to further improve patient journeys.
