Life Healthcare Group Speeds Up Accounts Payable Invoice Processing by up to 5X with Decipher IDP

Life Healthcare, a South African healthcare group operating 68 facilities, faced severe accounts payable bottlenecks after implementing SAP: staff manually opened and key-entered 1,000–1,500 daily pharmacy invoices, a process that took 7–20 minutes per invoice and limited employees to ~80 invoices per day. To address the backlog and free staff for higher-value work, Life Healthcare engaged SS&C Blue Prism and deployed its Decipher IDP and RPA capabilities.

SS&C Blue Prism implemented Decipher IDP OCR with digital workers and a human-in-the-loop validation step, automating end-to-end invoice processing into SAP. The result: invoice handling fell to about 1–1.5 minutes each (roughly 10–12x faster), Life Healthcare now processes 2,000–2,500 vendor invoices per day, achieved a 70–80% automation success rate, and has automated 20 processes to date—delivering clear throughput, cost‑saving and operational benefits.
