Laya Healthcare, Ireland’s second-largest health insurer with more than 600,000 members, was swamped by tens of thousands of follow‑on and resubmitted claims that created a growing duplication backlog. To tackle this, Laya deployed SS&C Blue Prism’s Decipher IDP (Intelligent Document Processing) as part of its digital workforce to automatically extract invoice data and surface potential duplicates.
Using SS&C Blue Prism digital workers and Decipher IDP, invoices are OCR-processed, matched to existing claim IDs, and duplicates are closed or unique items appended without human intervention—delivering a 75% reduction in provider duplicates, 49% faster duplicate examination and closure, and an estimated 450 hours returned to the business in January 2022 alone; the solution cleared backlog, sped payments, scaled to 119 processes across the organization, and avoided new hires.
