Intelligent Automation Speeds New Residential Utility Requests at Harz Energie

Harz Energie, the regional utility serving about 290,000 residents in Germany’s Harz region, faced heavy staff burden from routine but complex move-in requests that required up to 12 minutes each and totaled roughly 18,000 requests per year. To speed customer onboarding and free employees for higher-value work, Harz Energie engaged SS&C Blue Prism (with partner Natuvion Digital) to deploy a Blue Prism intelligent digital workforce to automate the process.

Using SS&C Blue Prism digital workers, Harz Energie now has customers complete a move-in form that the robot reads, updates customer records in SAP, and issues a welcome letter — completing the full transaction in about 1.5 minutes (90 seconds) instead of 12. The automation saved roughly 2,200 hours annually, improved employee satisfaction by removing repetitive tasks, flags exceptions for human follow-up, and has prompted plans to extend SS&C Blue Prism automation into accounting, payments and meter reading.
