Waitrose & Partners, a premier UK grocer, faced a complex supply-chain challenge: keeping store shelves stocked while managing many domestic and international suppliers and reducing time and cost by removing distribution centers from the middle of the process. To solve this, Waitrose turned to SS&C Blue Prism and its intelligent automation/digital workers to automate order review and routing between stores and suppliers.

SS&C Blue Prism deployed digital workers that review store orders, aggregate supplier items, check minimum-order requirements and approve direct shipments to stores. The automation cut Waitrose’s cost to fulfill products by half, returned about 800 hours per month to the business, sped up store replenishment and passed savings on to shoppers.
