Fonterra, a global dairy nutrition company owned by ten thousand farmers, faced a time-sensitive supply-chain challenge: reclassifying inventory to fulfill customer orders requires 38 checks across multiple systems for each item, with at least 30 requests arriving daily. The manual process took about two hours per request, risking customer delays, inventory waste and lost revenue. To address this, Fonterra engaged SS&C Blue Prism and deployed an intelligent digital worker—Arnie, The Terminator Bot—built on the Blue Prism platform.

SS&C Blue Prism’s Arnie automates the 38 regulatory and quality checks, opening applications, extracting reports, applying decision logic and emailing humans when additional input is needed. The bot completes two hours of manual work in 10–20 minutes without errors, delivering NZ $180,000 in annual working-capital interest savings, a fivefold value of digital workforce versus cost of ownership, faster decision-making and reduced inventory delays.
