ERGO Easily Meets Regulatory Deadlines for Contract Transfers with a Digital Workforce

ERGO, a Munich Re Group insurer serving 18 million customers in Germany, faced a regulatory challenge: when customers switch brokers the incumbent must transfer all active contracts within four weeks. Handling roughly 4,000 transfer requests per month created a backlog up to six months; each transfer took a human about 30 minutes and up to 100 steps for complex cases. To meet deadlines and reduce manual burden, ERGO deployed an SS&C Blue Prism digital workforce (intelligent automation).

SS&C Blue Prism’s digital workers automated the end-to-end contract transfer process, calculating fees, compiling and forwarding information, and communicating with customers. The automation cleared a six-month backlog in three months, supports about 50,000 contract transfers per year, saves roughly 2,000 work hours per month on this process, freed a team for higher-value projects, and led ERGO to deploy 70+ digital workers across 25 departments, improving compliance and reducing costs.
