A SS&C Blue Prism Case Study
Global Defense Technology & Systems (GTEC) faced the challenge of supplying the U.S. Army with rapidly deployable Shower Water Reuse Systems that could reliably filter and recycle shower wastewater in harsh desert conditions. The systems needed a self-cleaning, low-maintenance pre-filter capable of removing large quantities of human and animal hair and fitting into confined, rugged, transportable units. To address this, GTEC worked with vendor SS&C Blue Prism to identify a mechanically cleaned filtration solution for their Expeditionary Tricon Systems.
SS&C Blue Prism implemented a mechanically cleaned filter solution (a 15-micron, wedge‑wire style pre-filter used upstream of a micro-filter) integrated into GTEC’s units, including a customized stainless‑steel support base to suit the confined installation. In testing with an over‑stressed synthetic shower waste, the filter achieved essentially 100% removal of solids, maintained low differential pressure, shortened cleaning cycles, and withstood shock, vibration and temperature extremes in military trials. According to GTEC, the systems are in operation in Afghanistan, reducing reliance on trucked water, cutting costs and lowering the security risk to convoys.
