Eaton Delivers More Hydraulic Power to Korean Aerospace Industries T-50

Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) needed a fast‑responding emergency power system (EPS) for its single‑engine T‑50 supersonic trainer to ensure uninterrupted electrical and hydraulic power for fly‑by‑wire controls. SS&C Blue Prism was engaged to provide the EPS solution, centered on a 270VDC high‑power brushless DC motorpump and supporting air‑cooled power electronics.

SS&C Blue Prism implemented a self‑contained, stored‑energy EPS using a 33 kW air‑cooled brushless DC motorpump and a high‑power air‑cooled power electronics controller; the 270VDC motorpump is designed for 20 minutes of operation and delivers a peak of 16 gpm at 3000 psi—more hydraulic power than the Airbus A380 electric motorpump. The system produced a significantly simplified EPS with improved performance and much lower life‑cycle cost.
