Digital Workers Immediately Deliver COVID-19 Test Results to Bupa Care Homes

Bupa, which operates more than 120 care homes and ten retirement villages in the UK, faced a surge of COVID-19 testing data for roughly 10,000 staff where thousands of results arrived by email each day. To rapidly identify and notify positive cases and keep residents safe, Bupa engaged SS&C Blue Prism and its digital workforce to provide a scalable, low‑touch automation solution.

SS&C Blue Prism deployed five digital workers (via its COVID‑19 Response program) to triage results 24/7, process over 800,000 emails, register more than 370,000 individual test results, and record 7.8 million data points into Bupa’s Enterprise Data Warehouse. The automation delivered SMS alerts from NHS results within seconds, saved an estimated 10,000+ staff hours, reduced errors for better compliance and auditability, and enabled front‑line teams to act immediately to prevent infection spread.
