Digital Workers and OCR help Nordea Maintain Compliance with European Central Bank

Nordea, a modern, digitally enabled bank, faced a growing problem: many incoming documents were image-based (e.g., scanned PDFs) that their text-based automation couldn’t process, creating bottlenecks and risks for regulatory reporting. To address this, Nordea partnered with SS&C Blue Prism, leveraging Blue Prism intelligent automation—digital workers combined with integrated OCR—to bridge the gap between graphical files and their existing systems.

SS&C Blue Prism deployed digital workers that detect optical/graphical files, use OCR to convert them into usable text, and pre-populate Nordea’s systems so data can flow into internal reports for ECB review. The solution now supports digital workers operating across 450 processes, automatically converts optical information to text, increased processing efficiency, and enabled Nordea to meet European Central Bank compliance requirements.
