Central England Co-operative Society Reduces Time to Process Records by 97%

Central England Co-operative, one of the UK’s biggest independent retailers with about 8,500 colleagues across 400 trading sites, faced a growing HR backlog: roughly 2,000 leavers a year requiring timely record deletions to meet UK regulations and around 200 monthly shift adjustments that were taking up to 30 days to process, risking pay inaccuracies. To tackle these issues the Society engaged SS&C Blue Prism and its Blue Prism digital workforce (intelligent automation) to automate repetitive HR tasks.

SS&C Blue Prism deployed digital workers to process deletions and action shift‑change emails, resulting in a 97% reduction in time to process records, more than 10,000 colleague records cleared to ensure regulatory compliance, and shift updates reduced from as long as 30 days to about 24 hours (around 30x faster). The automation freed HR staff for higher‑value work, improved colleague experience, and kept the Society compliant with UK legislation.
