Aneurin Bevan Reduces Time to Update Patient Records by 97% with a Digital Workforce

NHS Aneurin Bevan Health Board, which serves around 600,000 people in southeast Wales, faced long delays and potential errors because staff had to manually transcribe updates from the Health Board Clinical Portal into the Welsh Patient Administration System (PAS)—a process that typically took about 24 hours and could be even longer on weekends. To solve this, the Board turned to SS&C Blue Prism and its digital workers (Blue Prism in the Cloud) to automate the transfers.

SS&C Blue Prism implemented 24/7 digital workers that update the Welsh PAS in 5–10 minutes, reducing record-update time from 24 hours to about 5 minutes (a 97% reduction), giving clinical staff near real-time patient information and improving patient care. The solution also enables new systems like the Welsh Nursing Care Record and creates reusable automations that NHS Aneurin Bevan and other Health Boards can share.
