AHS Utilizes Intelligent Automation and Gen AI to Enhance Patient Care

Alberta Health Services (AHS), one of Canada’s largest healthcare organizations, needed to improve efficiency across a very large workforce and patient network, especially during the pandemic when it had to onboard 10,000 new staff quickly. With SS&C Blue Prism and Epic, AHS launched intelligent automation to support HR onboarding and help staff access critical systems faster while managing high volumes of clinical and administrative work.

SS&C Blue Prism implemented digital workers combined with generative AI to automate tasks such as analyzing MRI requests, interpreting physician notes, and routing recommendations to radiologists in Epic. The results included more than 100 digital workers, automation of 250 years of work, and an estimated $15.8 million in value; AHS also reported faster onboarding, improved patient experience, and the recognition of four SS&C Blue Prism Customer Excellence Awards.
