Children’s Museum Saves Budget and Time, and Makes Communication Inside and Outside the Organization More Open with Bloomfire

The Thinkery (formerly the Austin Children’s Museum) is a STEAM-focused children’s museum that grew rapidly—from 30 to 140 employees in under a year—creating a communications challenge for Staffing Manager Jenny Trawick. She was spending up to 10 hours a week crafting mass emails, yet part-time staff without organizational email accounts often missed important updates; the organization needed a way to manage information flow, maintain a consistent tone, and include all employees.

Trawick implemented Bloomfire, creating a team of authors while she moved into an editorial role and organized tagged, searchable posts. That change cut her weekly content workload to 1–2 hours, brought part-time workers into internal communications (saving an estimated $6,500 in email costs), and provided read-tracking for staff accountability and evaluations—freeing her to focus on broader HR and inclusion efforts.
