Bloomfire Fuels Davenport University’s Collaborative Learning Culture

Davenport University, a private four-year college in Michigan with more than 11,000 students across 11 campuses and roughly 1,500 faculty and staff, needed a better way to capture and share employee knowledge. Staff were creating ad-hoc screen captures, videos and documents scattered across email, LMSs and shared drives, and many wanted to produce short “just‑in‑time” training but lacked time, tools and expertise.

Davenport joined Bloomfire’s 2011 beta and launched an informal, university‑wide community called INsite, using Bloomfire’s built‑in authoring and recording tools and hosting “posting parties” to speed adoption. The centralized platform reduced software licenses and application support, enabled easy cross‑campus collaboration, and produced more than 1,300 user‑generated items (250+ videos and 12 training series), changing the university’s learning culture.
