Bizagi streamlines sales at world’s largest open-pit coal mine

Cerrejon Coal, the world’s largest open‑pit coal mine based in Colombia with commercialization offices in Dublin and Atlanta, faced a complex, highly sensitive sales registration process spanning sales, foreign trade, logistics and finance across multiple geographies. The company needed a Business Process Management (BPM) orchestration layer to improve coordination, secure document handling and robust payment reconciliation from order to delivery.

Cerrejon implemented Bizagi BPM, integrated with ERP Ellipse, Minetrak and Aramis, using Bizagi’s On Target methodology to deliver a fully integrated solution in six months with a centralized Business Rules Engine. The project increased process agility, visibility and integration, shortened the invoicing cycle, reduced errors and compliance risk, consolidated documents and reporting, and now supports the tracking and control of some 32 million tons of annual coal sales.
