A Bizagi Case Study
Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), Spain’s state financial agency, needed to restore credit access to small and medium enterprises after the 2009 crisis. The project required extreme speed to avoid bankruptcies, complex integration across applicants, banks, call centers and external databases, and the creation of a brand‑new hybrid credit-and-advisory platform with new risk policies, architecture and branding.
Using Bizagi BPM Suite and PwC’s credit expertise, Bizagi modeled, built and launched the end‑to‑end online "Financial Facilitator" in just eight weeks, automating application validation, credit analysis and real‑time KPI tracking while integrating multiple stakeholders and systems. The service handled hundreds of applications on day one (up to 1,000/day), drew 80,000 applications in six months (140,000 in the first year), attracted major banks, reduced costs and processing time, and was rapidly reused to deliver ICOdirecto (80% reuse), which approved €101m in its first three months.
