Heracles Almelo, a Dutch professional football club, wanted new ways to engage fans and drive season and single-game ticket sales beyond email and social media. To build richer fan data and improve reach, the club worked with Bird (formerly MessageBird) and its partner Adwise to expand into conversational channels like WhatsApp and Voice.
Bird helped Heracles implement Flow Builder, Inbox, and two-way messaging to run automated, personalized campaigns, including player-branded WhatsApp videos and automated phone calls from players thanking fans for renewing. The results included a 98% WhatsApp open rate, more than 3,000 new opt-ins, and a 50% response rate to automated player calls, helping Heracles significantly boost fan engagement and move toward record season ticket sales.
