Preview of the Crown Coronation Case Study

A Better Way to Reliably Collect Covid-19 Data at Scale

Crown Coronation is an international clinical trial led by the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at University College London to evaluate prophylaxis options for COVID-19 across the United States and South Africa. Facing the need to collect accurate, consistent weekly symptom and test data quickly—and in some regions with limited internet—the team adopted MessageBird’s capabilities (using Numbers and the SMS API) to meet these constraints.

MessageBird implemented automated, programmable SMS surveys sent from local numbers so participants could report symptoms and test results without an internet portal or in‑person follow‑up. That solution provided reliable, scalable data collection and streamlined participant tracking across multiple countries, improving the speed and consistency of data capture; the trial is ongoing and may produce results in the coming months.
