Ambu, a medical equipment manufacturer and leader in single‑use endoscopy, faced a surge of more than 80 virtual card and card‑on‑file requests per day with just 1.5 FTEs handling a two‑step card run and cash posting process. To manage growth without adding headcount and to capture higher interchange discounts, Ambu turned to Billtrust and its Business Payments Network (BPN) for credit card processing.
Billtrust implemented its scalable BPN solution to automate card processing and enable Level 2/3 and large‑ticket interchange optimization. In the first seven months of 2022 Ambu saved an estimated 865 hours of manual processing (about ten minutes per payment), increased automated match rates from 45% to over 90%, and achieved 96% Level 2/3—yielding nearly $600,000 in savings.
