Manufacturer improves cash application accuracy

Uline, a $3 billion shipping and packaging distributor, faced a scaling problem: 13 employees manually processed 200,000 checks and matched them to 300,000 monthly invoices, a workflow that threatened accuracy and cost-efficiency as the business grew. To address this, Uline partnered with Billtrust and deployed Billtrust’s automated invoicing and Cash Application solution to integrate with their ERP and replace manual keying.

Billtrust implemented end-to-end automation for image and data capture, remittance processing, matching, deductions and exceptions, and cash application. As a result, Uline now achieves about a 90% line-item match rate and an 80% payment match rate before exception handling, paper check scanning was offloaded to the bank, and roughly 50% of the A/R team was reallocated to other departments.
