How Upwork Leverages Rewards to Drive Team Member Advocacy

Upwork, a global work marketplace with 75% of its workforce distributed outside the U.S., needed a better way to run a team member advocacy program that could support international fulfillment and reward employees for sharing company content on social media. To solve this challenge, Upwork used BHN Rewards to incentivize participation while giving team members equal access to rewards worldwide.

With BHN Rewards, Upwork launched monthly advocacy campaigns that let employees choose between digital gift cards and e-donations, all while keeping reward management simple and branded. The program drove strong engagement: more than one-third of Upwork’s workforce participates each month, generating over 29,000 posts, 38,000 impressions, and more than $531,000 in earned media value monthly.
