Edmunds.com, a leading automotive shopping site serving about 18 million monthly visitors and employing 500–1,000 people, faced difficulty getting clear visibility into top company priorities and making time to set and track meaningful stretch goals. Philip Potloff, EVP/COO & CIO, had introduced OKRs to replace annual planning but teams were still tracking progress on spreadsheets and failing to hit loftier objectives across the organization.

Edmunds implemented the BetterWorks goals platform to centralize OKRs, break large initiatives into smaller, trackable goals, and give leaders real-time visibility via hierarchical views, alerts and regular quarter‑and mid‑quarter reviews. Adoption now includes roughly 248 activated users, 1,075 active goals (4.3 goals per user) and 607 completed goals; the company reports improved focus, accountability, work pacing and resource management, plus more honest scoring by decoupling OKRs from compensation.
