Engaging IBMers Passionate About Social Impact – The Story of IBM Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Community

IBM needed a private, purpose-built community to unite and activate employees passionate about social impact across its CSR programs—helping members discover relevant opportunities, connect by cause/skill/geography, and maintain secure, personalized communication. To meet that challenge, IBM partnered with Bettermode to deliver a hosted community platform with SSO, Topics and Groups for targeted engagement, plus reputation and virtual currency features to incentivize participation.

Bettermode implemented SSO with IBM.org profiles, structured Topics and Groups for opt-in personalization, reputation scoring and virtual rewards, Slack integration, and a variety of post types to drive dialogue and content sharing. The community grew to about 1,800 members in under a year and delivered measurable improvements in participation, increased involvement in social initiatives, and stronger collaboration among IBMers—demonstrating clear engagement and program impact using Bettermode’s platform.
